Why the Skill Boost program?
In 2015, leaders from 193 countries in the world came together to discuss the world’s future. They realized that nations were still faced with many problems such as hunger, poverty, wars, insecurity etc. However they were optimistic and knew that something could still be done to reverse the situation and create a better future which is the hope of billions of people all around the world.
In that light the United Nations came up with the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. In this plan of action, 17 goals and 169 targets were set to be achieved or attained in 15 years. Since 2015, nations, organizations and individuals (partners and stakeholders) have been working relentlessly in line with these goals to attain the targets set for 2030. Africa being one of the most affected continents in the world has benefited from numerous interventions in different areas in order for the continent to advance with the rest of the world.
IBAFRICA is a non-profit making organization based in Cameroon, equipped with a team of young innovative leaders whose mission is to empower and inspire young people to be able to materialize their ideas, by harnessing their skills and talents and transforming these ideas into tangible projects (such as startups and businesses) that can create job opportunities for themselves and other young people. As a result, we share in the vision of the SDGs which is to get rid of hunger and poverty by 2030.
